Tuxedo pants for Janelle Monae and little Worth.

Ms. Monae has a terrific tendency to dress in menswear (specifically tuxedo separates), but she does it with a total girly ness that I find inspiring and, (on her) quite flattering.  Which leads me to my next point; I have tuxedo pants for my favorite red haired tot who will now, as of today, be living in New Jersey.  Whoo hoo.  Big day for a wonderful family.  The east coast style gurus will not know even know what hit them when little Worth struts the streets in her tuxedo pants from Miss Ashley... ;)

Chanel style sweet treat for your weekend.

These seem totally Lagerfeld, no?  Happy Saturday. The sun is kinda out and I'm about to go bounce around a track and then get coffee with the husband.  Tonight - stuffed pork chops with apricot and almonds.  Also, I think we're going to go look at a waterfall with a dear guitarist man friend from NY.  I think I'll wear my new faux mink scarf.  Holla.

Lilly's iced tea & asparagus.

Jackie in a Lilly Pulitzer shift dress.  So chic.  Probably about to go have an iced tea.
Tonight, I'm going to be jogging in the rain (probably in something fleecey and understated) and dinner is going to be a kale salad with wild rice and red table wine.  Not exactly a scene from a Lilly Pulitzer movie. But nonetheless, I've been thinking a lot about Lilly and even though I'm feeling very un Lilly ish and it's possibly the most unlikely night for a glass of iced tea, here goes.  Just because.  (And the asparagus would be lovely for an Easter brunch ... ?)  Both recipes are from Lilly's book on being Lilly entitled, Essentially Lilly: A Guide to Colorful Entertaining.

Recipe for Roasted Asparagus with Lemon and Toasted Nuts

Ingredients:
2 pounds fresh asparagus
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup chopped toasted macadamia nuts or toasted pine nuts
Salt and Pepper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Bend ends of asparagus, snapping where they break naturally. Discard tough ends. Spread asparagus out in single layer on large rimmed baking sheet. Whisk olive oil and lemon juice in small bowl. Brush asparagus with mixture, turning to coat all sides. Sprinkle asparagus generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.  Roast asparagus until crisp-tender, bright green and just beginning to brown in spots, about 7 minutes. Sprinkle toasted nuts over asparagus and serve.

Paris tea and other favorite possessions.

Our new cow skull.  A little avant garde, but it's actually very classic seeming in "real" life.

My pink & navy spot pillows made by Elizabeth.  Amazing.

Blood orange Italian soda.  Delicious with sparkling water and or vodka.

This bird mug is just so.  So awesome.  I still can't believe I found it.  It's unusual and and fragile looking until you cup it in your hand, then it's sturdy and old feeling.  Hello, Goodwill.  Sometimes you do me perfect.

Trader Joe's wheat & herb pizza crust.  I like you.

Decedance.  Belle Pastry in Old Bellevue.  I love that they wrap their pastry boxes with bright pink ribbon.

This is my luxury yummy right now; "paris" tea from Harney & Sons.  It's a black tea with vanilla and caramel flavors, with a hint of lemony bergamot and it comes in "sachets".  Oh, ok, pretty ness.  Totally, utterly divine. Doesn't need sugar or cream or any other sort of fiddling, and in one of my fav cups, it's just dreamy.

Some of my tea cups that make the cut.

Serving an almond tart from (where else?) Belle Pastry, for a lovely lady's 40th birthday.  Whoo hoo.
Another fav has been this embroidered peasant top bc it goes with everything.

Obsessed.  I am completely in awe of this lip stain.  It's the strangest, most wonderful thing ... looks green but goes on pink and stays put.  And looks awesome, with an awesome non-texture feeling.  I think it's from Morocco?  And this is my new zebra stripe-thrifted make-up bag which is suede and feels super lux.  Lastly, but not leastly, this strand of white and gold beads rocks.  It wraps around my wrist and clasps in a sec.  Have barely taken it off since I scored it ...  (bracelet & lip beloved from Margot ... gracias times a thousand. xx)

Ash after Italian food.
