little vignettes and other home stuff that's inspiring me tonight

some of the jewelry i've been digging for recently.  i keep it in a mint colored silver ware organizer.

an odd & dear assortment of bits that i'm hearting.  (bek, i found that giraffe you've been talking about - it's a friend for the yellow bird squeezie ... )

care for a magazine or cup of tea? me too.  p.s. --- long live a properly pillowed sofa.

white plates and yellow flowers.

this is the new hunker down corner ... walk in, drop the purse, stare out the window, fret over baby names ...

pink roses make any sort of chaotic coffee table look yummy.

Fresh Thursday.

Here's some spring y pics to pick up your Thursday.  Some are from my friend Joleen's home, where she hosted a gorgeous and super yummy early dinner the other night.  We enjoyed the company of wonderful Lyza girl and ate a Mexican inspired casserole along with a salad of papayas, radishes and avocado.  I made my first frozen treat in my new ice-cream maker (HOLLA coconut milk icecream) and it turned out perfectly unsweet and mellow...
Joleen's incredible McCoy vessel filled with simple white callas.
Floral wallpaper I fancied from the wall of Anthropologie.  (Someone hand-colored-in assorted flowers.  Prettae!)
The pilllow in the middle I'm just completely obsessed with ... $1.50 at the thrift store by my home.  So much character & a bold pop of color for the center of the sofa.  Yay!

Easter eggs and floating flowers.

Chopped up frozen berries for my ice cream venture.

Green, the color of renewal.  Perf for Easter.
I thought this was such an inspiring outfit to put in their window ... love the warmish red brown of the slacky shorts and the patterned blouse with some neck bling.  It would be a great outfit to hunt for chocolate eggs in ;)
Nibbles at the Hiltner home
Seafood deliciousness a la chez Joleen...
Tulip sweetness.  I'm not usually a fan of multi hued arrangements, but I like the vibe of this one.  And again, what an amazing pitcher to hold blooms!?

Chinoiserie.

Chinoiserie is a French term that means "Chinese esque".  Prettae.   I like it and think it goes with every sort of look.  Shabby prettae, chic prettae, country prairie prettae, mod prettae.  Chinoiserie.

bits from the house tonight

It feels like it's been too long of a work week and I'm just dying for the weekend to come around and any food / home / outfit styling inspiration it could bring its way.  Until then, here are some shots of what I'm liking tonight.  Of course, homes are always in process and constantly seem to be in need of a tweak and fiddle.  Our home is no exception, and I'm not sure that this is, in any way, an accurate depiction -- but it's what I'm looking at tonight and saying yes to ...  Yay for Fridays, because then comes Saturday.  Promise.   :)

Shells on wood plank, on wood table.

Wood carved giraffe, an old hanging (wood) birdcage and ceramic sea shells on the window sill.

Dried seaweed, a dried up rose bloom, a time keeper, a metal finial and the number 27 help compose a funny little still life.

View into the living room area.

Assorted milk glass, garlic cloves, three totally different bowls I decided looked cool to contrast, and daffodils not yet in bloom.

This chair lives inside during the rainy months, but it's a nice deck chair sometimes.

The brown and white "drape" is an awesome tribal looking piece I picked up a few weekends ago at the Goodwill.  I'm pretty sure it's a dupioni silk.

My forever yum place: big old sofa with soft pillows, warm tea,  sweet smelling candle,    There are lots of white layers going on right now.  The stuffed jar of nuts is for David.  He is a total squirrel.  I have no idea where I got JFK's book.  I wish I could say I was actively reading it, but it's totally one of those things that shows up in a house and I keep forgetting to ask why it's there and who is reading it ... ;)  My reading is the early 90's Gourmet magazine below it.  (Btw, I made a fabulous flour less chocolate cake from that particular Gourmet last weekend and I can't wait to post the recipe and what I learned.  It was fabulous.)

White & calm & feminine living.

Storage.  The absolute necessity when creating such a sparce feeling to a living space.

great texture from a (pillow?)

this is what is hanging above her sofa, in her living room.

love the all white effect with candlelight

wow.  i am impressed with her follow through of "theme"
...a white fish!

These are all images from the blog "sobinique" ... She is a blogger and this is her home.  I like her dedication to a white, dreamy interior and the touches of flowers all around.

Ash after Italian food.
