Vermont Country Store
Have you ever clicked around on the Vermont Country Store? It's a random stop online, and I've never ordered anything, but I'm seriously feeling their oddball collection of imported goods at reasonable prices, the kinds of things that could begin to feel like must-always-have-it-in-my-cabinet goodies...
Felce Azzura talcum powder (Fresh citrusy scent, used in Italian households for a long long time.) |
Calissons de Provence (A rich & smooth melon flavored marzipan from France.) |
Pine Cough Syrup (Seriously has pine extract in it. Sounds herbal ish and comforting if you're sick.) |
Minnetonka moccasins (Buttery soft pink leather slippers, built to last.) |

Easter meal was delicious.
Last Sunday night's Easter meal was beautiful and delicious. I wore a big zebra necklace and some killer grey boots with a jean skirt. It was so nice to enjoy my family and we played a hysterical alphabet game at the dinner table where pretend careers included moth ball removing and cha cha dancing. During the appetizer hour, everyone gathered in the kitchen area and drank lemon champagne cocktails made by Wesley or wine. For nibbles, there was tomato toasts with fresh mozzarella and basil garnish and prosciutto dates, salty Spanish almonds, green olives and a gorgonzola dip. Dinner menu included lamb, salmon, salad of mandarin orange and hearts of palm, roasted potatoes and asparagus. And for dessert? Homemade mint chocolate pudding and meringue with lemon curd and strawberries. Oh my, some good eating, wonderful company and a nice end to a happy, meaning-filled day.
Hostess Julie wore a nice blue dress with great buttons all the way down. Too bad she's turned around in this picture. |
The cocktail napkins were almost too pretty to use. |
Hostess Margot wore a pretty blouse. |
Thyme dinner rolls. |
Centerpiece for dining room table. |
Big shells looks so fresh with lilies and a simple blue and white tablecloth. |
After the meal, we put little tiny sparklers over our head. It felt goofy and special. |
Happy Easter season! xoxo |

Fresh Thursday.
Here's some spring y pics to pick up your Thursday. Some are from my friend Joleen's home, where she hosted a gorgeous and super yummy early dinner the other night. We enjoyed the company of wonderful Lyza girl and ate a Mexican inspired casserole along with a salad of papayas, radishes and avocado. I made my first frozen treat in my new ice-cream maker (HOLLA coconut milk icecream) and it turned out perfectly unsweet and mellow...
Joleen's incredible McCoy vessel filled with simple white callas. |
Floral wallpaper I fancied from the wall of Anthropologie. (Someone hand-colored-in assorted flowers. Prettae!) |
The pilllow in the middle I'm just completely obsessed with ... $1.50 at the thrift store by my home. So much character & a bold pop of color for the center of the sofa. Yay! |
Easter eggs and floating flowers. |
Chopped up frozen berries for my ice cream venture. |
Green, the color of renewal. Perf for Easter. |
Nibbles at the Hiltner home |
Seafood deliciousness a la chez Joleen... |
Tulip sweetness. I'm not usually a fan of multi hued arrangements, but I like the vibe of this one. And again, what an amazing pitcher to hold blooms!? |

Laura love.
Picture taken around 1900 of Laura Ingalls Wilder. She was thrifty when it came to herself, but very generous with others. Also, her daughter was named Rose. |

Hard worker = good, but I miss you.
I'm missing Dave a lot today. He worked straight through the week, plus some evenings and now all weekend. I'm cranky that the only time I see him is when it's dark and we're both bleary eyed and mumbly. No no. Anyways, I miss you boo and am ready for some "sick days" on both our ends where we can be out in the sunshine drinking hot coffees.
